Centerpoint Energy offers rebates for residential air sealing and insulation upgrades. See below for details on rebate eligibility:

• Attic Air Sealing: Rebate of $750; $1,300 for both sealing and qualifying attic insulation. No rebate for attic-only upgrades.
• Wall Insulation: Rebate of $1,500. No rebate for attic-insulation-only or rim-joist-insulation-only projects.
• Rim Joist Insulation: Rebate of $200.

Visit Program

Xcel Energy provides rebates and you are eligible if you are a Minnesota residential customer living in an existing single-family home or in a multi-unit home up to four units. The insulation must be professionally installed by a BPI Certified Contractor. The primary heating fuel is supplied by Xcel Energy.

Rebate Eligibility Details

• Attic insulation and bypass sealing where existing insulation must have a pre R-value of 20 or less and a post R-value of 44 or greater.
• If existing insulation is R-21 or greater, at least R-25 of additional insulation must be added.
• Wall insulation requires an empty wall cavity and a post R-value of 12 or more.
• Air sealing and weather stripping may qualify.

• General Rebates: For customers using Xcel Energy for heating.

Minnesota Energy Resources offers home energy-saving programs that may include rebates for insulation and air sealing when installed by a qualified contractor.

Typical Eligibility Guidelines

• Existing Minnesota homes served by MN Energy Resources.
• Pre-approval and or participation through an approved program contractor may be required.
• Final rebate amount depends on the scope of work and current program terms.

Minneapolis Bonus Rebate Details

• Bonus rebate amount not to exceed: Green Zone residents: $20,000. Non-Green Zone residents: $6,000.

• Funds are available on a first come, first served basis for projects completed after December 15, 2025.
• Minneapolis bonus rebate and utility rebate cannot exceed the total project cost.
• Only one rebate per eligible project and eligible utility rebate.
• Projects must be eligible for a utility rebate from CenterPoint Energy or Xcel Energy.
• Project must be completed and all required documentation must be submitted for the application to be considered complete and to receive the bonus rebate.

• Work must be done by a properly licensed or registered contractor with the MN Department of Labor.
• The rebate will be paid to the utility account holder.

Loans

• 0% APR.
• Loan amounts from $2,000 to $20,000.
• Loan terms up to 10 years depending on the loan amount.
• Household income cannot be over 150% of the area median income based on your household size and adjusted gross income from the most recent Federal Tax Return. Qualifying income cannot be over $172,100.
• The total loan amount for all Energy Efficiency Interest Subsidy Loans cannot be more than $20,000 per year.
• Funds are available on a first come, first served basis.
